Glaucoma
SYMPTOMS of the most common form called Chronic Glaucoma is the loss of side
vision which is slowly and progressive. Later loss of central vision and
possibly blindness. Other signs may include the inability to adjust to the
dark, frequent lens change, mild headaches or vague visual disturbances and
seeing halos around lights. Acute Glaucoma symptoms may begin with reduced
visual acuity, eye and head pain and seeing colored halos around lights. This
may happen at intervals and then be followed by a sudden acute attack with
nausea, vomiting, severe throbbing eye pain and rapid loss of sight.
CAUSES. There is increased pressure within the eye which may cause damage to
the optic nerve and retina.
TREATMENT. Consult your ophthalmologist immediately.
.Medication may be prescribed. Surgery may be required.
